It gives us great pleasure to announce that the Right Honorable Sir Mike Penning MP, joins Care after Combat as Life Vice President.
Mike was the first person to recognise the value of the Phoenix Project, a project designed to reduce reoffending by former members of Her Majesty’s Armed Forces. It just so happened that Mike was a senior minister in the Home Office at the time. It was him that convinced the then Home Secretary, Theresa May that Care after Combat could deliver a much needed service. It was Mike that gave us our first prisons and allowed us access. Quite frankly, without Sir Mike Penning, Care after Combat would not have the success it is achieving today.
Sir Mike is a veteran himself, having served in the Brigade of Guards, and delighted us all, when secretary of State for the Armed Forces, by telling senior generals that he was once a corporal.
Sir Mike also served with great distinction in the fire service.
He is a man of the people, and definitely a man for the people.
All of us at Care after Combat are delighted.
