Care after Combat is pleased to announce that our second bid for funding, made to The Veterans’ Foundation, has been successful!
The funding will continue to bolster the provision of Care after Combat’s support to veterans within the Criminal Justice System, significantly improving their physical and mental wellbeing. It will also assist in facilitating and supporting ongoing training for our volunteer mentors and for prison staff improving their skill set and understanding.
CEO of Care after Combat, Adrian Kirk, explains; “As a charity, Care after Combat relies heavily on funding from outside agencies, foundations, donors and fundraisers. Over the last 18 months the number of veterans Care after Combat is supporting has increased threefold. The support from The Veterans’ Foundation allows us to continue with our provision of service, supporting many more veterans and their families. A huge thank you to The Veterans’ Foundation for their continued support, and to the players of the Veterans’ Lottery who make grants like ours possible.”
Major General David Shaw of The Veteran’s Foundation says; “The Veterans’ Foundation has been set up to help fund charities and other charitable organisations that are helping serving and former members of the Armed Forces, and their dependents, who are in need.
“The Veterans’ Foundation raises its money through the Veterans’ Lottery and donations. Since inception in July 2016, it has given over £8 million out through more than 480 grants to over 270 unique organisations, many of them small to medium-sized and very worthwhile charities, which are helping members of the Armed Forces community who are in need. Forecasts indicate the Veterans’ Foundation will make grants totalling £4.8 million this financial year. The charities and other organisations we have helped include those tackling the challenges of mental and physical injuries, homelessness, unemployment, children’s loss of parents while serving and remembrance.
