The Chief Executive of Care after Combat, Adrian Kirk, is to step down from the role in spring of next year. On his departure, Adrian will have been with the charity for over seven years, initially engaged as a Volunteer Mentor and subsequently with four and half years at the helm. This period has seen significant change and growth for Care after Combat.
Chair of Trustees, David Rogers, said:
“While many charities have struggled during recent years, Care after Combat under Adrian’s leadership has flourished and developed. His energy, passion and knowledge of both veterans and the justice sector has been invaluable. He leaves a legacy of a vibrant, professional, and dedicated team who have successfully supported thousands of our veterans whilst in Prison. I am also delighted to announce that Adrian has accepted a voluntary post with the charity as an Ambassador when he steps down as CEO next year.”
Adrian said:
“It has been a privilege to lead such an amazing team of staff and volunteers for the last four years. Together we have achieved a great deal and have taken the charity from a position of existential threat to one of some security and stability, delivering life-changing support to more veterans than ever. Amongst other things, we have secured significant and varied contracts, established ourselves as the in-prison delivery partner of NHS England’s Op NOVA service for veterans in justice, become recipients of the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, and – crucially – have built a phenomenal team that has enabled all of this to happen. Consequently, I believe that now is the right time to handover to a new leader who can take the charity even further forward during the next chapter for Care after Combat.”
