Care after Combat is proud to announce that Moawia Bin-Sufyan, our Regional Coordinator for Wales, has been awarded an MBE in HM The King’s New Year Honours List 2025 for his services to Community Cohesion and Inter-Faith Relations in South Wales.
Moawia has been a driving force for interfaith dialogue and community cohesion in South Wales for over two decades. As founder and board member of multiple charities, he has worked tirelessly to promote diversity and healthcare, particularly within the Welsh Islamic community.
Moawia is among 58 people from Wales receiving honours this year; Welsh Secretary Jo Stevens highlighted the inspirational work done by honourees from various backgrounds across Wales, noting their dedication to helping vulnerable members of their communities.
The Muslim Council of Britain has also celebrated this year’s honours list, with Secretary General Zara Mohammed emphasising the importance of recognising individuals from faith and minority communities for their contributions to British society.
This recognition strengthens Moawia’s commitment to creating positive change. As he states, “Receiving this honour strengthens my commitment to continue this journey, helping to create a more just, compassionate, and equitable world. Together, we can and will do more.”
The entire Care after Combat team congratulates Moawia on this well-deserved recognition of his dedication to bringing communities together.

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to be awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List. This recognition is a reflection of the incredible efforts of those I have had the privilege of working alongside, and it inspires me to continue striving for a better future.
As I think about this honour, I cannot help but feel the weight of the challenges so many are facing: families struggling to put food on the table, the elderly battling to heat their homes, and the heartbreaking devastation in the Middle East. This award is a reminder that our work is far from finished.
It is not mine alone but belongs to everyone who has contributed to our shared mission of service and compassion. From the countless volunteers, community members, trustees, ambassadors, veterans, mentors, magistrates, governors, and colleagues, to my dedicated family and all those who have shown unwavering support, this award represents all of you. It is a testament to the belief that when we come together with a shared sense of purpose, we can achieve extraordinary things, even in the face of adversity.
Receiving this honour strengthens my commitment to continue this journey, helping to create a more just, compassionate, and equitable world. Together, we can and will do more.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. This is for you, and it is for all of us who believe in building a brighter future for our communities, our children, and those most in need.”
