Rugby ‘Military Service and the Justice System’ Training: Morning
As part of our commitment to Thrive Together Midlands, we’d like to invite practitioners, professionals, and organisations working with veterans to join us for a free awareness training session. The session is also informative for veterans and even their families.
This specialist training, “Potential Links Between Military Service and Offending Behaviour,” will be delivered by our CEO and Clinical & Research Lead, Dr Jane Jones, and aims to:
- Raise awareness of the challenges veterans may face when transitioning to civilian life—and how these can sometimes lead to involvement with the justice system.
- Challenge myths that incorrectly link military service to offending behaviour and explore how these misconceptions can impact sentencing.
- Explain unique challenges veterans encounter in the justice system, particularly around release from prison.
-
Share practical examples of effective support strategies for veterans at risk or already involved in the justice system—based on first-hand experience.
