Help for Veterans in the Justice System

If you’re looking for help for veterans in the justice system, you’re in the right place. Care after Combat provides tailored support for veterans in the justice system and their families throughout England and Wales.

Our purpose is simple: to reduce reoffending and help veterans rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose, and hope.

For those in the justice system, Care after Combat’s help starts on the inside. We work directly with veterans, providing emotional support, mentorship, and help with planning for the future.

We don’t stop there. We’re there at the gate when veterans are released and continue to support them as they build new lives on the outside.

Are you or a loved one in need of support? Here’s how we can help:

Mentorship programme of support

Our mentors work with individuals both in and out of prison through our unique Project Phoenix program.

With firsthand Armed Forces experience, our mentors understand the challenges you face and provide tailored support for at least one year after release.

Group meetings in prison

We conduct regular group meetings in prison to ensure individuals have the continuous support they need.

Here, you can share experiences and receive guidance from those who have walked in your shoes.

Remote support service

Even in prison lockdown conditions, our commitment to you does not waver.

We send monthly wellbeing/activity packs containing essential items like paper and stamped-addressed envelopes, ensuring you can stay in touch and receive support.

Telephone helpline

There is a helpline available 24/7 which is available in the community and in prison. Whatever your situation, someone is just a call away.

Raising awareness through training

We educate non-military services about the unique challenges faced by military personnel.

This training ensures a deeper understanding and better support for veterans within the Justice System and beyond. Better understanding means better help.

Connecting Veterans to Wider Services

We collaborate closely with various services and organisations to provide comprehensive support, including healthcare, housing, employment and benefits assistance.

Support for Military Families

We recognise the importance of families and offer specialised support tailored to their needs. By partnering with other services, we ensure families receive the right help promptly.

We listen & respond

Our services are shaped by the voices of those we serve. We continuously refine our approach based on feedback from serving and former military personnel and their families, ensuring we meet your needs effectively.

Why Care after Combat?

We’re proud to be a trusted voice for veterans in the justice system. Our services are inclusive, empowering, and delivered with genuine understanding, because many of our team have either been in the military themselves, have a deep understanding of the inner workings of the justice system, or both.

We are a lifeline for those who’ve served and are now struggling. When you reach out, you’ll find compassion, structure, and a team that cares deeply about your recovery and future.

Is Care after Combat for me?

It doesn’t matter why you’re involved in the Justice System. We understand that life can be unpredictable, and we’re here to help you make positive changes for your future. If you have been arrested, might receive a prison sentence, or are already in prison, we’re here to support you.

We don’t judge your past. We focus on your future.
