Whilst Sean and Jonny battle the Atlantic Ocean, they’re not rowing alone.
Teams from two private prisons are backing the Changing Tides Row by mirroring the crew’s incredible 3,200-mile journey on gym rowing machines.
The initiative brings together veterans, inmates, and staff in a powerful show of solidarity. Since Sean and Jonny departed Lanzarote on 24th January, the prison teams have been rowing continuously, matching the daily distances covered at sea.
These distances vary as Sean and Jonny navigate different weather conditions, but the prison teams are committed to matching whatever the crew achieves, no matter how high the number of miles!
The teams will continue rowing until the boat reaches Antigua, expected on the 27th of March, meaning weeks more of dedicated effort.
Through this challenge, these teams have demonstrated that supporting veterans and mental health causes transcends circumstances, and that meaningful contribution comes in many forms.
The Changing Tides Row is raising funds for Care after Combat and Samaritans. If you would like to support the team, you can follow their journey on their Facebook page or donate here to back both the crew at sea and the teams rowing in solidarity back home.
Whether on the Atlantic or in a gym, it all adds up to life-changing support for veterans and people facing mental health crises.
