Location: The Atlantic Ocean
Date: 20th February 2026
Mission Status: Phase Two – The Row
Operative: JJ Bear
Classification Level: PUBLIC

Nearly a month at sea now, and the Atlantic is not giving us an easy ride.

Current Position: around 40% Complete

The halfway point is tantalisingly close, and I know it won’t be long until we make it. As for our estimated finish date, we’re looking at the 31st March. That’s another five weeks from now, meaning we still have five more weeks of this endless blue horizon.

The winds have been playing games with us. It’s frustrating when you’re desperate for every mile, every inch of westward movement. But this is the Atlantic, and she moves to her own rhythm.

And along with these winds, there’s something else in the air today. Literally. Dust from the Sahara Desert has drifted this far out to sea, creating a haze over the water. It’s a strange reminder that even out here, in the middle of the ocean, we’re connected to distant landscapes we can’t even see.

The crew has managed to capture some of our sea battles on camera, though these conditions are nowhere near the worst we’ve faced. When the ocean decides to test us properly, there’s no time to reach for a camera. You’re too busy rowing through it and trusting that the boat will keep doing what she’s built to do!

Speaking of the crew, they’ve settled into a consistent pattern: two hours on, two hours off, around the clock. Row for two hours. Rest for two hours. Row again. Repeat.

And let me tell you about the glamorous parts they don’t show in the highlight reels: using a bucket for bathroom purposes while the boat’s rocking is a skill nobody teaches you in training. It’s not dignified, but it’s absolutely necessary!

The Truth About Consistency

The team shared some wise words a few days ago about consistency. Out here, consistency is everything. It’s about showing up for your two-hour shift, then your next shift, then the one after that. Hour after hour. Day after day. Week after week.

That’s how you cross an ocean, how you achieve something that seems impossible. Not through brilliance or inspiration alone, but pure, relentless consistency.

We’re not at the halfway point yet, but we will be. We’re not in Antigua yet, but we will be. The mission continues, one two-hour shift at a time.

Stay with us. The grind continues.

JJ Bear, signing off.
